Class Policies

 

Cancellations and Substitutions:

 

Those who cancel registration more than 21 calendar days prior to the first day of the session will receive a full refund. Substitutions may be sent in your place. Those canceling registration within 7 to 21 days prior to the first day of training will receive a refund of all but the registration fee of 25%. Otherwise, your payment will be converted to a nonrefundable credit that you may use toward any training program within a 12-month period from the date of your originally scheduled session.

 

Attendance:

 

  • Central Training Academy will publish a schedule for each session conducted.  Attendance is required at all classes to meet the training standards for registration or certification by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
  • Attendance will be taken in the classroom twice per session.
  • Any student who reports late for a session will be considered tardy. A student tardy for the first time will be given a verbal warning and required to make the time up. The second tardy may result in dismissal from the session. The third tardy will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
  • Central Training Academy must be notified within 24 hours of the beginning ofa session if a student will not be attending the session. All tuition payments are non-refundable and will be credited for the next scheduled training session in that category.

 

Dress:

 

Students are required to dress neat, be groomed and well-maintained.

Appropriate attire is required for all sessions.

 

Grooming Standards:

 

Neatness in personal appearance is required at all times while attending Central

Training Academy

 

Academic Performance:

 

  • Students shall be expected to demonstrate knowledge in specific subject matter on the written examination and the performance tests which relate to classes taught during the appropriate classes. Students shall be expected to successfully pass all portions of written and performance tests. Failure to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in all academic areas will be grounds for academic failure.

 

Examinations and Grading:

  • Written examinations must be passed at the 70% level required by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Regulations Relating to Private Security Services. Correct responses are mandated for specific critical questions.
  • Progress records and counseling will be furnished periodically as needed.  Immediately following written examinations and practical exercises, there will be a complete review and feedback to students.
  • All required practical exercises are graded Pass/Fail and must be passed.
  • Failed written examinations and practical exercises may be attempted one additional time on a second day. If the student is un-able to pass after two attempts, they will be required to re-cycling through the next scheduled training session of the same category at the set tuition fee and achieve a passing grade on the written examination or practical exercise.
  • Firearms Qualification will be determined in compliance with specific jurisdictional mandates. Students who do not qualify may re-fire one additional attempt at their expense. If not able to qualify after two attempts, student must re-cycle through the next scheduled training session at the set tuition.

 

Remedial Work:

 

Students requiring remedial work may make arrangements with the school and/or instructors for assistance.

 

Course Completion Certificates:

 

Students, who attend an entire course and meet all requirements for successful completion, will be issued a certificate by Central Training Academy.

 

Professional Development Credits:

 

Upon successful completion, students will receive Professional Development Credits based on a 50-minute hour. CEU’s may also be offered at the student’s request based on one credit for each 10 hours of training. Training credits are widely recognized as evidence of educational achievement. Central Training Academy sessions may also qualify for credit toward state in-service and retraining requirements.

 

Registration:

 

Confirmation of course registration: Upon receipt of completed registration form and payment, each student will be dent written confirmation with all pertinent details including dates, time and location.

 

Tuition Payment:

 

Participants must submit a payment (we except cash, checks, money orders or credit card) at the time of registration or first day of class.

 

Please make all checks or money orders to Central Training Academy. Tuition includes all training materials.
