Entry Level
01E - Security Officer Core Entry
$145
"An "Unarmed security officer" means a natural person who performs the function of observation, detection, reporting, or notification of appropriate authorities or designated agents regarding persons or property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who does not carry or have access to a firearm in the performance of his duties." Hours of Training: 19 (18 hours of classroom per DCJS guidelines and one hour for administration and examination.)

02E - Private Investigator Entry
$600
"A "Private investigator" means any natural person who engages in the business of, or accepts employment to make, investigations to obtain information on (i) crimes or civil wrongs; (ii) the location, disposition, or recovery of stolen property; (iii) the cause of accidents, fires, damages, or injuries to persons or to property; or (iv) evidence to be used before any court, board, officer, or investigative committee." Hours of Training: 72 (60 hours of classroom instruction, 12 hours of administration, 2 hours of practical exercises, role playing, comprehensive exam, and review.

40E - Bail Bondsman Entry

"Bail bondsman" means any person who is licensed by the department who engages in the business of bail bonding and is thereby authorized to conduct business in all courts or the Commonwealth. (Source: DCJS Administrative Code 6 VAC 20-250-10)
"Property bail bondsman" means a person pursuant to this article who, for compensation, enters into a bond or does so through his agent and who pledges real property, cash or certificates of deposit issued by a federally insured institution, or any combination thereof as security for a bond as defined in §19.2119 of the Code of Virginia that has been posted to assure performance of terms and conditions specified by order of an appropriate judicial officer as a condition of bail. "Surety bail bondsman" means a person licensed pursuant to this article who is also licensed by the State Corporation Commission as a property and casualty insurance agent, and who sells, solicits, or negotiates surety insurance as defined in §38.2121 of the Code of Virginia on behalf of insurers licensed in the Commonwealth, pursuant to which the insurer becomes surety on or guarantees a bond, as defined in §19.2119 of the Code of Virginia, that has been posted to assure performance of terms and conditions specified by order of an appropriate judicial officer as a condition of bail. "All armed bail bondsmen must satisfactorily complete the firearms classroom training, practical exercises and range training, as prescribed in the Regulations Relating to Private Security Services (6 VAC 20-171) for handgun and for shotgun, if applicable, prior to the issuance of the firearms endorsement." 13E- General Instructor
$500
General Instructor Entry-Level training makes an individual eligible to be certified as an instructor.
The General Instructor Development Course is an intensive 40-hour course conducted over the course of five (5) days, with approximately 20 hours of additional after-hours work. It consists of five primary subject areas: the adult learner, the instructor role, lesson preparation, presentation and application. Candidates in this exercise should be self-disciplined, independent participants, able to work in groups of various sizes, complete thoroughly each assigned task in a timely manner and meet all course goals and objectives.
During this course, assignments are given on a daily basis and shall be completed as directed. Lesson plan topics will be assigned from the Regulations and Code of Virginia during the first day. The candidate’s primary objective is to research and develop their assigned topic for presentation, application and feedback as outlined during the course. And, as a tool of learning, teach back the assigned topic for a minimum of 15 minutes for evaluation. Throughout the course, each candidate will be evaluated on various performance goals.

14E - Firearm Instructor
$750
Firearm Instructor Entry-Level training makes an individual eligible to be certified as a Firearms Instructor. This is an intensive 44-hour course conducted over the course of five (5) days. Students must demonstrate teaching and shooting proficiency and pass a written exam.
The following equipment is required and must be provided by the student:
1. Duty Handgun Semi-auto or Revolver
2. Magazines or Speed-loader
3. Holster, Belt, and Ammunition Carrier Pouches
4. Eye Protection, Ear Protection
5. Duty Flashlight

05E - Arrest Authority
$100
This class must be taken with 01E and 07E to meet the Virginia DCJS requirements for an armed security officer.

07E - Entry Handgun
$200
The course covers firearm care and maintenance, civil/criminal liability, firearm retentions and storage, deadly force, range safety, principles of marksmanship, firearms handling and safety, judgmental shooting, low light shooting familiarization.
Each section will be followed by a five (5) question quiz covering the material in that section. To pass you must score at least a 70% on each quiz to achieve an overall score of 70% for the course.

75E - Entry Level Handgun for Security Officers
$300
Firearms training endorsement is required for all private security services business personnel who carry or have immediate access to a firearm while on duty. Each person who carries or has immediate access to firearms on duty shall qualify with each type of action and caliber of firearm to which he has access." "An "Armed security officer" means a natural person employed to (i) safeguard and protect persons and property or (ii) deter theft, loss, or concealment of any tangible or intangible personal property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who carries or has access to a firearm in the performance of his duties." Baton Course

This course covers the defensive tactics, strikes, and jabs to be used when carrying a less than lethal force alternative such as an expandable baton. MEB Baton course combines lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands-on performance of techniques and testing in a concise and practical manner.

OC Course
$100
This course covers a combination of practical exercises and classroom instruction. We identify the stages of conflict to recognize the threat, reduce the threat, and determine how and when to use force. Apply tactical concepts such as: spraying techniques, disengagement, proper defensive positions, methods of movement, multiple opponent defense, contact and cover system, defense against moving attacks, ground defense, and drawing techniques. Avoid liability suits through Certified training, understanding the effects of OC spray, identifying factors which justify OC use, and proper OC incident documentation.

CPR First aid AED for Adults/Infant/Children
$125
American Red Cross - This course covers critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. In addition, this course includes how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies, as well as perform CPR and use an AED. Course will cover Adult procedures only. The certification is from the American Red Cross and is good for two years.

In-Service
01I - Security Officer Core In-Service
To provide Security Officers with continuing education, skills, information and techniques necessary to perform within their profession competently and in compliance with the Code and Regulations as promulgated by the Criminal Justice Services Board and enforced by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
The first section reviews the current Regulations and Code updates for 2016 that will be going into effect by July 1, 2017. The next three sections of the course will cover with the student skills and information to assist them in their professional endeavors.
Each section will be followed by a five (5) question quiz covering the material in that section. To pass you must score at least a 70% on each quiz to achieve an overall score of 70% for the course.
Unarmed Security Officer In-Service training must be completed every 24 months, prior to expiration. As with the entry level course, all appropriate DCJS forms and fees must be submitted to successfully re-qualify as an Unarmed Security Officer.
Hours of Training: 4 or Online
